In-Depth Weapons Review: Colt M16
Like the title said, today, I will be discussing one of the weapons that are claimed to be overpowered. Yes, I will be talking about the M16
Saw its first service in 1964, the M16 is part of the Colt AR-15 series and is most of the time featured in Vietnam War themed video games and movies such as the Call of Duty Black Ops mini-franchise and the Rambo movie trilogy.
The M16 can be unlocked at level 10 and can be upgraded up to level 55. This weapon comes with a 3-round burst mode by default, giving this weapon a very good recoil control for mid ranges. However, this weapon doesn't perform well in close ranges as it has a slow fire rate for close ranges and a bad hip fire accuracy.
Accuracy & Control
The M16 is, overall, a very accurate weapon and is very easy to control, due to it being a 3-round burst assault rifle. The recoil basically goes upwards with a slight shift to the left and on the account that this is a burst AR, that is not something you should worry about. Also, there is some idle movement while aiming down sights which could throw you off from getting hits over long ranges, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue. The hip fire accuracy in this gun as a base weapon with no attachments is just like the other Tactical Rifles so hip firing is basically a no-go.
Recoil pattern:
The M16 basically deals a damage of 50 up close and then it will drop to 40 over ranges and there are no body damage multipliers which means the shots can hit anywhere in the body, except for the head, and will deal the same amount of damage. As for headshots, we have a standard headshot multiplier of 1.4x which sets the damage to 70 and drops to 56 over ranges. The M16 has a pretty good bullet velocity of 725m/s which is 50ms slower than its other 3-round burst AR/Tactical Rifle, the AUG, giving the M16 the second fastest bullet velocity in the Tactical Rifle class. The fire rate for this weapon is 909RPM with a 260ms of delay after each burst. This can be easily dealt with by using fire rate increasing attachments such as the Rapid Fire Barrel (+6% Fire Rate), Strike Team Barrel (+9% Fire Rate), and the Titanium Barrel (+13% Fire Rate).
Mobility and Reload Times
ADS speed for the M16 is quite slow compared to ARs at 350ms so you might want to add some ADS speed increasing attachments to this weapon. Sprintout/Sprint to Fire time (How long it takes from sprinting to hip firing) is stated to be 425ms. However, TheXclusiveAce tried the Sprint to Fire time for himself and it turned out to be 250ms which is not too bad, considering it's a burst AR. Movement speed is at 10.26 mph (95%) for the base movement speed, 15.27 (141%) for the sprint movement speed, and 3.28 mph (30%) for the ADS movement speed. Base reload speed for this weapon is 1.87s and the fastest for the reload speed in this weapon is with the SAS Mag Clamp at 1.17s and the slowest reload speed is with the STANAG 54 Round Mags at 2.10s.

Best Class Setup
Finally, I saved the best for last. This is the best setup that I am currently using for the M16:
Okay, a little disclaimer here. I have only unlocked a few of what some people may call "the best attachments" as grinding Black Ops Cold War weapons are hard as you can see by how many XPs it takes to upgrade to level 49 (top right). Anyways here are the attachments I reccomend:
Muzzle: Agency Suppressor (duh)
Barrel: 15.9" Cavalry Lancer (For balanced increase of bullet velocity and damage range) Or the 20.5" Task Force (For better range. Some people just prefer it that way.), your choice.
Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
Ammunition: SAS Mag Clamp (If you haven't unlocked the Salvo 54 Round Fast Mag yet)
Optic: Axial Arms 3x
Overall, this M16 setup is perfect for taking down targets over long distances thanks to its stability, recoil control and everything else.
Well, I guess that is all for today, I hope you liked it and if you do leave a comment. I'll see you in the next in-depth weapons review. Until next time! Ciao!
This is the video I used for research on this weapon:
